You’ve Come To Mohawk For Options
Your floor is literally and figuratively the foundation of every room in your home. And it doesn’t matter if you’re designing for a house, an apartment, or a loft, ultimately you want a beautiful covering for your foundation. Utilized for centuries for both durability and appearance, Ceramic Tile offers a vast amount of colors, textures, and patterns to choose from.
The gorgeous styles found in our Natural, Rustic, Slate, and Classic Collections of Mohawk Ceramic Tile give your surfaces the finish of natural marbles, travertines, and other picturesque stones. In addition to its visual appeal, tile will not absorb odors or support bacteria, thus making it appropriate for kitchens and bathrooms as well as great rooms, sun rooms and foyers.
As you embark on your flooring adventures, it is important to take into account the different types of Ceramic Tile and characteristics of each. Learning about the properties that distinguish our Glazed Ceramic, Glazed Porcelain, and ColorBody Porcelain can better assist you in finding the perfect fit. Testing for qualities like scratch–hardness and water absorption lend invaluable knowledge during the shopping process.
For instance, styles like the (Ristano/Risalto) and (Del Norte/Delgado) found in our Natural Collection also feature tile designed for walls and countertops. It should be noted that most wall tile is glazed with a semi–gloss or matte surface that typically has less slip resistance than tile designed specifically for flooring. By including the Coefficient of Friction (slip resistance) for every tile type Mohawk has to offer, we can find the appropriate finish for any surface.
You’ve come to Mohawk for options — together we can make sure you leave with the right one.
Glazed Ceramic Tile: Removing Expense, Retaining Allure
We at Mohawk strive to produce attractive, affordable solutions for your surface needs and our Glazed Ceramic Tile succeeds in doing just that.
Found in nearly all of our tile collections, styles such as Sierra and [CERAMIC WILLOW GLEN] achieve the look of natural marbles and stones for your floor without added cost.
In an age–old creation process, clays are mined, ground to fine powders, blended with water, pressed together to form the body of the tile and finally dried to reduce moisture content.
After being coated with glass–forming minerals and stained with a colored glaze, the tile is fired in kilns at approximately 2000° Fahrenheit to form the finished product.
Glazed Porcelain Tile: Added Strength & Style
From (Monticino/Travino) to (Sorriso/Seguro), (Riverstone/Stone Creek) to (Borghesi/Alviano), our Glazed Porcelain can be found in every Mohawk collection of Ceramic Tile.
Although similar to our Glazed Ceramic Tile in surface, the blend of fine–grain clays and other minerals that compose our Porcelain translates into a more dense body. As a result, these styles are highly resistant to moisture, staining and wear.
Strong enough for exposure to freeze/thaw cycles, outdoor use of our Glazed Porcelain should be confined to covered areas.
ColorBody Porcelain: A Difference Maker
The Montara and Trapani styles that highlight our Slate Collection are made from ColorBody™ Porcelain, the densest of all Mohawk tile types.
With a through–color body and a water absorption rate of less than 0.5%, these styles are created with your heavy traffic area in mind.
Whether making a restaurant patron–proof or turning your own patio into a fine–dining establishment, ColorBody Porcelain is ideal for any indoor or outdoor, commercial or residential location.
