Atlanta Home Refresh Part Two: Foyer and Living Room Edition

Mollie Surratt

Recently, my mom, Lori Allen, owner of Bridals by Lori and star of Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, has been focused on redesigning her home one room at a time with the help of interior designer, Courtney Myers. A breast cancer survivor, she feels redesigning her home represents her second chance at life. We covered the redesign of her dining room in an earlier post. So, in this edition, we’ll be taking a look at her foyer and living room refresh which turned out beautifully and is sure to inspire.

The foyer of my mom’s stately Atlanta-area home is where guests are greeted with warm hugs and are offered glasses of sweet tea. Like the dining room, her design vision for the foyer was rich and formal—with a touch of casual elegance that allows guests to feel right at home. To achieve this vision, an antique gold-leaf table with marble top was selected as the entry table and paired with a complementing gold antique mirror and antique lamps. The Nomad Kalispell Area Rug from Mohawk Home in color Cream/Beige was selected for the foyer to add warmth and comfort. Crafted from durable and recycled Everstand yarn, the soft shag style offers superior stain resistance- so no worries about the light color with grandchildren and Chloe, her new bichon puppy.

Just beyond the foyer is the living room, which serves as an all-occasion family room, in my mom’s open home. For this project, we selected the Mohawk Home Berkshire Truro Area Rug in 10’ x 14’ to center the space. A gorgeous rug with an on-trend color pallet, the living room was designed around this gorgeous area rug full of charcoal, grey, taupe, beige, and ivory waves. Also crafted of Everstrand fiber, this rug feels as good as it looks. The oversized charcoal Lee Industries sofas and rich brown leather chairs are all tied together with this stunning area rug.

A favorite feature of mine in my mom’s two-story living room is the grand wall of family photos. On this wall, treasured pictures and frames of all different sizes, styles, and colors are compiled to create a truly stunning gallery wall. I also loved the large custom-built bookshelves that house the TV, along with other accessories, in a unique way.

While my mom’s house refresh has been a labor of love over the past year, the final outcome is a gorgeous space in soothing colors that truly offers a place of peace and refuge for the entire family. We hope this beautiful refresh inspires you as you spruce up your own home for the holidays. Cheers!
